double qld premiere comes to the black box

3B CREATIVE PRESENT

Sunny Coast theatre fans looking for something new will be thrilled when 3bCreative stages not one, but two plays never before performed in the State. One of New Zealand’s most popular plays, Krishnan’s Dairy, has toured the globe, justly earning rave reviews.
Now you can see it at the Black Box starting on May 31, along with Scraps, the latest work of Nambour playwright Joy Hinckley.

Krishnan's Dairy is the story of a migrant couple, Gobi and Zina Krishnan. They have come from India to New Zealand to start a family and run a convenience store. Juggling the demands of running a small business in a strange country, and the ordinary stresses of married life leads to endless frustrations - some comic, some not so. Director Anne Grant has both characters being played by Sangita Ghodke, giving her a great opportunity to demonstrate her remarkable comedic talents and also her lived experience of being an immigrant.

Scraps is a brand new one-act play having its first performance. It is set in Brisbane’s King George Square, where two Ibises, Bugsy and Grubsy, try to come to terms with the history of their city as depicted in the sculptures there. You’ll never look at Bin Chickens in quite the same way again.

This double bill starts on Friday May 31 for a limited season at the Black Box
