Seniors of the Sunshine Coast are invited to come along for a social morning to see, hear about and experience the joy of dance for older people.

  • Be captivated and inspired by In A Different Space, a short film that celebrates and showcases Sunshine Coast seniors, aged 60-101 years, dancing their stories in places of significance to them.
  • Hear from Gail Hewton, the film maker and local teacher of dance for older people who will speak briefly about the benefits of dance for older people and share some amazing stories of how dance has transformed the lives of many of her community participants.
  • Seated or standing, prepare to put your best foot forward, kick your heels up and enjoy yourself as Gail leads you through a variety of dance styles and flavours to a broad range of familiar music, we’ll even make some new dance together – it’s about possibilities not limitations with an emphasis on what you can do not what you can’t, all in a safe, fun and supportive environment.
  • Morning Tea will be provided.

“In A Different Space is one of the most inspirational dance films I’ve seen in a long time. It combines beauty, humour, serenity and cheekiness in equal measure. Anyone who feels themselves growing older should watch this film.” Anna Leatherdale, Producer, People Dancing (UK)
