Kaospilot: Fostering Leaders and Entrepreneurs - Learning Innovation and Innovation in Learning
This talk by Kaospilot Principal, Christer Windeløv-Lidzélius will take us through the story of the school, its pedagogical platform and philosophy. A number of core principles that have found to be valuable for fostering leaders and entrepreneurs will guide the talk. These principles will be illuminated by case stories and different models.
Towards the end of the last century, geopolitical vicissitudes, technological breakthroughs and globalization, were just some of the changes the shaped a new time. Peoples preferences, ideas about society and sense of meaning also underwent changes. As old jobs were disappearing and competition increased innovation became the mantra – indeed the panacea for virtually all challenges. But innovation proved to be a fuzzy concept – easier said than done.
Education also became an object for these changes and ideas. Not immune to change, but responding very slow, the need for new type of educations that could tackle the complexity- balancing societal needs and individual preferences, left room for new type of initiatives. Here Kaospilot emerged as a response to how to navigate uncertainty, tap into people’s motivation and creativity and help them carve out new paths.
Kaospilot were founded in 1991 by Uffe Elbæk, grounded in his work with disengaged young people. Since then it has grown to considerable stature in Europe, influential across Europe and now internationally, and celebrated by Business Week, Fast Company, Forbes, Wired and Monocle magazines.
Described as a ‘hybrid business and design school, a multi-sided education in leadership and entrepreneurship’ Kaospilot is based in Aarhus, Denmark, with a campus in Berne, Switzerland.
