Ignition Awards for Ceramic Excellence

The Ignition Awards for Ceramic Excellence is a national exibition developed and organised annually by Suncoast Clayworkers. The awards which offer over $5,000 in prize money attract entries from across Australia.

The works shown are diverse and range from domestic to sculpture.  There is also a specially displayed section for items made from 300grams of clay. All of the items are for sale and members of Suncoast Clayworkers will be in the Old Ambo galleries to talk to visitors. 

Date: Wednesday 25 July to Saturday 11 August

Exhibition Hours: Monday to Friday 10.00am to 3.00pm and Saturday’s 10.00am to 12.00pm. 

Exhibition Opening: 6pm Friday 27 July with special guests, Councillor Jenny McKay and judge Maryke Henderson (Canberra). Light refreshments provided. 

Venue: The Old Ambo Galleries, Old Ambulance Station, 80 Howard Street, Nambour

Following the Ignition Awards for Ceramic Excellence exhibition another Suncoast Clayworkers exhibition opens on Monday 13 August in the Old Ambo Galleries. Making Marks in Mudd is an exhibition of original handcrafted ceramics and sculpture exploring mark making in clay by Suncoast Clayworker member and scholarship winner Cathy Lawley. The exibition will be offically opened at 6.00pm on Thursday 16 August by Suncoast Clayworkers President Jackie Gasson and will run from Monday 13 August until Sunday 19 August.
