Flamenco dance classes continue with Chispita Flamenco

Chispita Flamenco, led by Jeda Palmer, continues to offer flamenco dance classes on the Sunshine Coast. Jeda Palmer has been dancing flamenco for 15 years, performing and teaching in Australia and India. Flamenco is the passionate song, music, and dance from southern Spain. Gypsies brought musical and dance styles that have strong Indian connections to Spain 500 years ago. Since then the ‘dance of the gypsies’ evolved to become a fiery, spirited, and vivacious art form. “Flamenco for me has become the voyage of a lifetime: the evocative metaphors of the natural world in the songs captivate me and the intricate guitar melodies have intertwined with my soul.” Flamenco dance classes with Chispita Flamenco offer flamenco dance basics for all levels at the Old Ambulance Station, interwoven with flamenco rhythms and music. “For me, dancing flamenco is a great joy! It connects me to the passionate and spirited world of Spanish music and rhythms, and keeps my body active.” A trademark of Jeda Palmer’s classes (in addition to her strong technical ability) is her enthusiasm, her encouraging approach, and her warm human connection.  “It gives me immense joy to share this passionate dance form with my wider community. Traditionally, flamenco happens at small community ‘fiestas’: it is natural to share it with others.” “Chispita Flamenco, meaning Little Spark Flamenco, is a flame that grows stronger over time…come and join the dance around the fire.” What? Flamenco Dance Classes

Come and join the dance around the fire… Flamenco dance lessons interwoven with flamenco rhythms, music, and song Chispita Flamenco, meaning Little Flamenco Spark, offers a vista into the spirit of flamenco Bio: My love for flamenco began by chance in India. It became the voyage of a lifetime. Crossing paths with a great dancer I was enraptured by her dignity, the drama of her dress and the fury of her flying feet. My love for the art form has grown over time and across continents, as the evocative metaphors of the natural world in the songs captivated me and the guitar melodies intertwined with my soul. Flamenco is a flame that grows stronger over time. To register your interest or for more information please contact Jeda Palmer E: chispitaflamenco@gmail.com P: 0431 416...
THE URBAN PUPPET PROJECT

THE URBAN PUPPET PROJECT

YOUNG people from around the Sunshine Coast have started at gather in Nambour for an exciting new enterprise, The Urban Puppet Project. The Urban Puppet Project is the brainchild of local actor, Mary Eggleston. Mary has been facilitating acting workshops in Australia and Europe for nearly 20 years and is now tutoring drama students at the University of the Sunshine Coast. “As much as I love being on stage and in front of the camera myself, I find collaboration with young minds so invigorating and inspiring,” she said. “The Urban Puppet Project is a natural evolution for me in term of what I would like to create with the young people attending my S.O.D.A workshops. “The long term goal is to create our own kids show.” Mary has combined forces with local puppeteer, Rebecca Dostal to kick-start this new project. These two women have an enormous amount of combined experience and passion to initiate not only a Nambour based puppet troupe but to develop an online kids show. “It would be an amazing thing to help build and create together,” she said. “The show could be fortnightly at this stage, which leaves us a week to write, rehearse, film and upload.” They intend to launch this community inspired show to the wider public in the coming months. “We are currently on the hunt for a videographer to join our team, so if you are looking for a project to get your teeth into please get in touch,” Mary said. “It’s important to me to grow this program organically with a team of passionate individuals who are inspired by telling...
